Paula Deens Ooey Gooey Butter Cake reminds me of the cake I adore at California Pizza Kitchen- its insanely delicious with two layers of heaven!!
This recipe is ultra simple to throw together and I am telling you, it is the best cake you will ever have… seriously.
When I go to our favorite restaurant California Pizza Kitchen, my husband already knows the dessert I always always order! I look forward to it each and every time we eat there.
I always order it with vanilla bean ice cream and whipped cream on top and my lord, is it fantastic! It literally melts right in your mouth!
I wanted to recreate this scrumptious dessert right at home and this my friends, is it!
this recipe originated in the 1930s, I’m not sure who first made it as so many recipes are created and recreated over the years, but one thing is for sure, it was way before Paula deen ever made it ‘famous’.Â
Now this cake uses a ‘box mix’ as the crust! its super easy and works much better than you would think! You can, of course, make a vanilla cake for the bottom if you would prefer!
I have made this and omitted the “package of yellow cake mix” and used flour, eggs, butter, sugar, vanilla, baking powder and milk for the cake layer which most people should know are the basic ingredients to a cake but this way is much easier!
Hands down the best cake ever.
It will stay fresh for about one week refrigerated, or it can be frozen for two months!
