Preheat the oven to 350-degrees F.
Grease an 11 x 13 baking pan and set aside.
In a large bowl, sift together the dry ingredients. Set aside.
In the bowl of an electric mixer, beat the eggs. Add in the remaining wet ingredients and mix to combine.
Add the dry ingredients and mix until just combined. Do not overmix.
Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake about 30 minutes until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
Let rest until cool. Cut the cooled cake into small cubes.
In pretty glasses, assemble the dessert cups as follows:
Spoon in whipped cream at the bottom, top with a layer of the cake cubes. Finish with another dollop of whipped cream, and a bit of cake crumbs.
Alternatively, you can also assemble this in a large trifle bowl instead of individual cups if desired. This will make about 10-15 dessert cups depending on the size of the glasses.
Store dessert cups in the refrigerator until ready to serve.
