Variations to Recipe

Syrup – So you can buy any flavor of syrup and use to replace the blue raspberry flavor. Raspberry, cherry, strawberry, kiwi, etc. There are so many flavors to choose from. You use the base of the recipe and then adjust with flavors of the syrup you use.

Sugar – I used granulated sugar but you can swap it with honey, maple syrup, or your sugar of choice. The traditional flavor of lemonade uses white granulated sugar.

Tartness – Feel free to add less or more lemon juice to adjust the sweetness or tartness of the drink. More lemon juice is going to make it stronger in the tartness. Less lemon juice will make it milder in flavor. Also adding more water will make it less tart.

Blended – Add your lemonade to a blender with a lot of ice, and blend well. it will create a slush-like texture. Drink slush right away or it will melt.

Boozy – Spike your lemonade with some coconut rum, blue vodka, tequila, or even your favorite whiskey. Just add a shot or two for each glass. Stir well and devour.

Storing Lemonade

Refrigerate any of the lemonade you make, and keep the drink in a sealed container. The lemonade will last around 4-5 days in the fridge. I do recommend stirring between pouring just in case the ingredients settle a bit to the bottom of the container.

You can also freeze the lemonade. Make ice pops or freeze for later. Just pour in a container that is freezer-friendly. Then leave 1-2 inches at the top for the mixture to expand as it freezes. Freeze for 2-3 months. Then thaw in the fridge overnight.

Helpful Tips For Success

  • Adding more syrup will make it a sweeter and bolder blue raspberry flavor.
  • Serving your lemonade over a glass of ice is going to enhance your lemonade. Just drink right away so it doesn’t melt and water down the drink.
  • Use room-temperature lemons to get the most juice out of each of the lemons.
  • Strain your lemonade if you find there is pulp from the lemons you want removed.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I make this lemonade ahead of time?

Yes, you can make this drink 1-2 days ahead of when you plan to serve it up. Just don’t add any ice to the container. Then store the blue lemonade in the fridge until you are ready to serve.

Where can I find blue raspberry flavoring for making lemonade?

You can find this in the coffee/tea aisle at most grocery stores. Or you can shop at a specialty store or order and ship to your home via online.

How do you juice a lemon?

Start by taking room-temperature lemons and then roll lemons on the counter with a little bit of firm pressure. Slice the lemon in half and then use a juicer or hand juicer to squeeze out as much liquid as you can. Discard the pulp and then seeds.

Can I make a sugar-free version?

Yes, you will swap the sugar with a sugar substitute of your choice. Stevia, monk fruit, etc. will work in replace of granulated sugar. Then use a sugar-free syrup as well.
