Will these steak bites taste spicy?

These steak bites will have a hint of spice to them because of the chili powder and cayenne pepper youโ€™re adding to them. However, they wonโ€™t be too spicy unless you decide to kick things up a notch by adding more cayenne pepper to the mixture. If you like the heat, feel free to do that!

You can use any brand of salted butter in this recipe. Itโ€™s best to use butter instead of margarine to get that full, incredibly delicious taste that butter provides.

Recipe Notes & Suggestions

  1. Once youโ€™ve seasoned your meat, allow it to sit in the seasonings in a container or Ziploc bag in the fridge for around four hours. When you do this, youโ€™re letting your meat marinade soak up all the flavor from the spices.

  2. Itโ€™s important to let the skillet get hot before you put your meat in it because youโ€™re searing the meat. So, place the olive oil in the skillet, set it on medium-high heat, and wait until you know itโ€™s hot enough before you begin adding your steak pieces into the skillet.

  3. Do your best to avoid overcooking the meat. Youโ€™re going to need to keep in mind that the meat will continue to cook for several minutes, even after youโ€™ve removed it from the skillet. Itโ€™s better to remove it sooner than to wait too long and overcook your steak bites.

One of my favorite things about this recipe is how the edges get slightly crispy from being pan seared! They would even make a great appetizer! Just stick tooth picks in each and place them on a serving platter!

Ingredients

Prep Time: 10 minutes

Cook Time: 7-10 minutes

Serves: 4

Cajun Seasoning:

  • 1 - 2 teaspoons chili powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 2 teaspoons smoked paprika
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 2 teaspoons garlic powder
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon brown sugar

Steak:

  • 1 1/2 pound steak cut into 2 inch cubes
  • 1 Tablespoon olive oil
  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • 1 tablespoon minced garlic
  • 1 tablespoon finely minced parsley

Instructions

  • Combine all the seasoning ingredients together in a bowl. Toss to coat the meat.
  • Heat the oil over medium high heat in a large cast iron skillet or other pan.
  • When the oil is sizzling add the steak and cook for 2 minutes, flip and cook another side for 2 minutes.
  • If you prefer your meat rare, remove from the pan now, or if you prefer your meat well done, continue flipping till all sides have browned.
  • Remove the meat from the pan and keep warm.
  • Melt the butter and add the garlic to the pan, scraping the pan so the butter is well seasoned.
  • Add the steak back into the pan and spoon butter over the meat.
  • Remove from the stove and serve immediately with a sprinkle of parsley.
  • ENJOY!
