Ingredients

  • 2 boxes of pound cake mix calls for eggs, milk, and butter
  • Pink food coloring
  • 2 oz cream cheese softened
  • Double heart cookie cutter
  • Glaze:
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 teaspoons milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1/4 cup Wilton micro heart sprinkles

Instructions

  • Prepare your pound cake as directed on box, add cream cheese.
  • Add in a few drops of pink food coloring, more if you want a deeper color, and mix
  • Grease a loaf pan with butter then lightly flour it
  • Pour your pink pound cake batter into your loaf pan
  • Bake as directed on box (usually around 50 minutes)
  • Let cool completely for a couple hours or an hour in the fridge
  • Slice your cake into 1 1/2 inch slices like you would a loaf of bread
  • Lay your cake slices flat and then use your double heart cookie cutter to cut out your heart shapes
  • Now mix up another box of pound cake and pour a small amount in the bottom of another loaf pan
  • Start placing your double hearts onto your batter in the bottom of your pan standing upright (make sure they are close together)
  • Now pour your remaining batter on top of your hearts
  • Bake for another 50 minutes
  • Once your cake is finished baking, let cool completely for a couple hours or an hour in the fridge
  • Mix together your powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla until you have a creamy icing texture
  • Remove your cake from your pan and pour your icing onto your cake, letting it drip down the sides
  • Top off with a handful of micro heart sprinkles
  • Slice and enjoy!
