You can adjust the mint flavor or color to fit the occasion, whether you want a soft hint of mint or a more festive green layer.

Ingredient Breakdown
Brownie Mix
This creates the sturdy, fudgy foundation of the dessert. A fudge style brownie works best so it can hold the creamy layers without becoming too soft.
Cream Cheese
Provides the rich and slightly tangy base for the mint layer. Be sure it is fully softened so the filling stays smooth and creamy.
Powdered Sugar
Sweetens the cream cheese mixture while keeping the texture light and silky.
Peppermint Extract
Adds that cool mint flavor. A small amount goes a long way, so measure carefully.
Frozen Whipped Topping
Used in both the mint layer and the final topping. It keeps the dessert fluffy and balanced instead of heavy.
Andes Mint Baking Chips
The star of the recipe. They melt slightly into the layers and give you bursts of chocolate mint flavor throughout.
Green Food Coloring
Optional but fun. It gives the mint layer a soft green color for a festive touch.
Chocolate Fudge Instant Pudding Mix
Creates a rich, creamy chocolate layer that contrasts beautifully with the mint filling.
Cold Milk
Helps the pudding set up thick and smooth.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I make this ahead of time
Yes. This dessert needs at least four hours to chill, but overnight is even better. The layers firm up and slice more cleanly.
Can I use homemade brownies instead of a mix
Absolutely. Just make sure they are dense and fudgy rather than cakey so they can support the layers.
Can I use homemade whipped cream instead of frozen whipped topping
You can, but it is best to stabilize it so it holds up well between layers and during chilling.
How strong is the mint flavor
With one quarter teaspoon peppermint extract, the mint flavor is balanced and refreshing. If you prefer a stronger mint flavor, add a very small amount more and taste as you go.
Do I have to use Andes Mint Baking Chips
You can substitute chopped Andes mints if needed. Just chop them small enough to distribute evenly throughout the layers.
Can this dessert be frozen
Yes. Wrap it tightly and freeze for up to two months. Thaw in the refrigerator before serving or enjoy it slightly frozen for a firmer texture.
How do I get clean slices
Use a sharp knife and wipe it clean between cuts. Chilling overnight also helps the layers set up beautifully.
