Ingredients Needed

  • Chocolate chips – These small, sweet morsels add a burst of rich flavor and creamy texture to each bite of Birds Nest Cookies.
  • Butterscotch chips – Butterscotch chips bring a warm, caramel-like flavor to the mix, adding an extra layer of sweetness. Although I love the taste of blending butterscotch with the chocolate chips, you may use additional chocolate chips instead.
  • Creamy peanut butter – Peanut butter adds a nutty flavor and creamy consistency to Birds Nest Cookies that makes them irresistible.
  • Chow mein noodles – The crispy crunch of chow mein noodles gives Birds Nest Cookies a delightful crunch that sets them apart from other traditional recipes. For a salty alternative, you may use pretzel sticks instead. I would recommend breaking the pretzel sticks in half before mixing them into the recipe.
  • Mini cadbury eggs –  These Cadbury egg bites add an unexpected burst of color to the cookie tray, plus a hint of creaminess from their fondant centers.

Extra Tips for Chocolate Bird Nest

  • For best results I recommend using a high quality chocolate chip for this recipe, such as Ghirardelli or Guittard.
  • Add about 1 tsp of shortening to the chocolate chip/butterscotch chip bowl before heating in the microwave. This will help the chips to melt more smoothly.
