Lamb Chops are center-cut meat that comes from lamb. The meat tastes great when baked or grilled. It has a rich taste that pairs perfectly with the spices featured in this recipe. Many people enjoy eating this cut of meat because of its flavor and tenderness.

The recipe makes enough of the Best Lamb Chops to serve three people. If you need to serve more people, you will need to use more lamb chops and increase your measurements for different ingredients, including the honey, dijon mustard, and garlic.

How Long Will It Take to Prepare the Lamp Chops?

It takes less than 30 minutes to prepare the Best Lamb Chops. You will spend roughly five minutes preparing the chops and 10 minutes cooking them. You can have a delicious home-cooked meal made in 15 minutes!

Ingredients to Use to Prepare Your Chops

You will need these important ingredients to make the Best Lamb Chops:

  • Lamb Chops. You will need six chops for this recipe. Choose red chops that have some white fat attached.

  • Olive Oil. Use olive oil to create the marinade for your chops.

  • Balsamic Vinegar. Add an acidic touch with a tangy taste to your chops.

  • Honey. Put two tablespoons of honey into your marinade mixture with oil and vinegar.

  • Dijon Mustard. The mustard brings more flavor to the dish and tastes great with the other marinade ingredients.

You will also need minced garlic, salt, pepper, and rosemary sprigs to complete this meal.

How to Make the Best Lamb Chops

When you are ready to make the chops, be sure to rinse them with water and dry them off with a paper towel to absorb the excess moisture. Set your oven to 400 degrees F. While waiting for your oven to get hot, place the chops in a large baking dish and begin seasoning both sides with salt and pepper. Place your rosemary sprigs on top and around the chops.

Grab a small bowl and add your olive oil, balsamic vinegar, honey, garlic, and dijon mustard to it. Mix the ingredients together and pour the marinade over your chops. Use your hands to rub the marinade over all sides of it. Place foil over your baking dish and let the chops sit for around 15 minutes. Remove your foil after 15 minutes, put your dish in the oven, and let it cook for 10 minutes. After 10 minutes, remove the baking dish and allow your chops to sit for two minutes before you serve them.

How to Store the Lamb Chops

Fridge:

If you have leftovers, let your lamb cool down before you put it away. Put your cooked meat in a sealed container with an airtight lid. You can put the lamb chops in the fridge and store them for up to five days.ย

On the other hand, you can also store the cooked chops in the freezer. It is best to wrap the chops in plastic wrap and then a sheet of aluminum foil. Be sure to wrap it well to prevent freezer burn. Add a date to your package before you freeze it. Place it in the fridge to defrost when you want to eat it.

What to Serve as a Side Dish With Your Chops

You may wonder what you should serve as a side dish with the Best Lamb Chops. Garlic mashed potatoes are easy to prepare and will taste great with this meat. Besides the mashed potatoes, green beans with almonds, roasted carrots, baby potatoes, and couscous are all great sides to eat with your meat.

Lamb chops taste great with a fresh salad. If you want to keep it simple, make a Greek salad with Feta cheese, sliced cucumbers, red onion, and lemon juice. You can serve the salad on the side or put your lamb chops on top of the salad, eating it together.

While you do not need sauce with these chops because they are tender, juicy, and full of flavor, you might like dipping your meat in the sauce. You can prepare homemade sauces with simple ingredients. Some of the sauces that go great with this dish include roasted lemon sauce, mustard shallot sauce, and red wine sauce. You can make most of these sauces with four ingredients or less.

You can cook these lamb chops in a skillet. You would need to season and marinate the chops as directed in this recipe. However, instead of putting your chops in a baking dish and letting them cook in the oven, you would place them in a large skillet with butter and extra olive oil. You can sear the chops in the skillet for a few minutes on each side.

How to Choose the Right Lamb Chop

What you will have to look for is the loin, rib, or sirloin chop. Choose light red chops with finely textured meat with smooth white fat. The fat on your chops should be evenly distributed. The chops should be a bit more than an inch thick. After a while, you will get better at choosing the right lamb chop. Use these tips to help you pick the right one though.

Ingredients
  

Servings 3

Store 5 days in refrigerator

Preparation time: 5 minutes

Cooking time: 10 minutes

Total time: 15 minutes

  • 6 lamb chops
  • Sea salt and black ground pepper
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1/3 cup balsamic vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons dijon mustard
  • 3 garlic cloves minced
  • 5 fresh rosemary sprigs

Instructions

  • Wash and pat lamb chops dry with a paper towel.
  • Preheat the oven to 400F
  • Add chops in a baking dish large enough to leave space in between and season both sides generously with salt and pepper. Add rosemary sprigs.
  • In a small bowl, mix olive oil, balsamic vinegar, honey, dijon mustard, and garlic. Pour on lamb chops and rub both sides. Cover with foil and let marinade for about 15 minutes.
  • Remove foil and place the baking dish in the oven for about 8 - 10 minutes.
  • Remove from the oven and let rest for 2 minutes before serving.
  • Goes best with mashed potatoes and a veggie.
