“You are a mean one… Mr. Grinch!” Serve up this festive and refreshing Grinch punch for the Christmas season. This punch takes 5 minutes to make and is loaded with fizzy lemon-lime soda, lemonade, pineapple juice, and more. Top with maraschino cherries for that bright pop of red to the bright green color. The classic green and red for the Christmas Grinch!

This Christmas punch is a tropical and refreshing flavor that will tickle your tastebuds. This a family-approved drink so you can sip it as you stream The Grinch, whip it up for a holiday party, or family gathering, or make it for a mid-week treat. A non-alcoholic drink that will be a show-stopper. Feel free to add alcohol if its for the grown ups! Vodka or tequila work wonderful!

Ingredients You Will Need

Sprite – Lemon lime soda is going to offer a nice carbonated component to the punch and also help sweeten the punch.

Water – Filtered water is best as it will be good to help not provide added flavor to the drink.

Lemonade Concentrate – You can find the frozen lemonade concentrate in the freezer section. It is by the juices and frozen pie crusts. You will want to thaw it first.

Pineapple Juice – Reach for pineapple juice to help add a tropical twist to the drink.

Kool Aid Flavoring – For the coloring I used a lemon lime packet. It does add flavor but also it adds a gorgeous color to the drink.

Sanding Sugar and Maraschino Cherries – Both are optional but they will add that classic bright red look to the green punch. You can line the rim with the sugar and drop some cherries into the punch.

Ice – We love to serve this drink on ice. It will also help keep the cherries on the top of the glass instead of sinking to the bottom.

Can I Make A Spiked Grinch Punch?

If you want to make an alcoholic Grinch punch you sure can. Ultimately you can add vodka, white rum, Blue Curacao, Triple Sec, tequila, etc. This is a very fruity punch so all the items listed will help to elevate and bring a kick of booze to the drink.

I prefer to use either a white rum or vodka personally. Those two options seem to be a great pairing with the pineapple and lime flavors. You can add to individual glasses as you go, or spike the whole punch bowl if you prefer.

Variations to Recipe

Here are a few ways for you to change up your punch if you are looking for a bit of a twist in flavor.

  • Add in some scoops of lime sherbet to make a creamy and frothy punch. You can add to top of punch or mix in for a more frothy texture.
  • You could use edible glitter as well as sanding sugar for rimming glass for added sparkle. Also, consider using a green sanding sugar in replace of the red.
  • If you want more of an intense color add some drops of green food coloring to punch.
  • Ginger ale, 7Up, or other light sodas can be used in replace of the Sprite. Even diet or zero sugar sodas work.
  • Want a berry twist, use red colored berries to mix in the drink for added flavor. Strawberries, raspberries both are great and add nice coloring.
  • Use sparkling water insteado of a lemon lime soda.
  • Swap out the Kool Aid with Green Berry Rush Hawaiian Punch for added flavor and a bright green colored flavor. Add in 3-4 cups.

Tips for Success

Start with Chilled Ingredients

One way to keep your drink extra flavorful is to start with chilled ingredients. This is going to offer a refreshing twist and it is going to help the ice not melt near as fast. Providing an incredible flavorful punch.

Thaw Concentrate

Before you go to make the punch you need to make sure your lemonade concentrate is fully thawed. Place in the fridge for a few hours to thaw. Or you can carefully thaw in the microwave on defrost. Just don’t heat it up and get the concentrate warm.

Mixing Well

You want to ensure you get all the ingredients mixed really well in the pitcher. This will provide that evenly flavorful drink that each sip you get a consistent flavor.

Ice

I love serving this punch with ice. It is going to help keep the maraschino cherries on top of the glass as the ice acts like a barrier. Plus it is going to keep your drink nice and chilled.

Garnishes

Feel free to add red sanding sugar to the rim of the glasses, add in some lime wedges, and cherries for that gorgeous presentation on the cocktail.

Storing Leftover Punch

So you will want to refrigerate any of the punch that you do drink right away. I do recommend that you remove the ice from the punch as it is going to water down the flavor. Then right before you go to serve it up, stir well.

And then if you want that fizzy carbonated flavor, add fresh Sprite into the glass. Stir and then sip and enjoy!

The punch will last for 1-2 days in the fridge. After that I recommend tossing as the flavors begin to change even more. Now you can freeze any of the punch you don’t plan to drink right away.

You can freeze in ice cube trays to use for adding to your new punch or a glass of lemon lime soda. Or you can freeze it and then thaw and add fresh soda and then serve up like it is new. Just thaw in the fridge overnight.

FAQs

Can I prepare Grinch Punch in advance?

Leave out the lemon lime soda until right before you serve as well as the ice. But add all the other ingredients in a pitcher, cover and refrigerate for up to 24 hours in advance. Then right before serving add Sprite and ice and stir well.
