Chocolate S’mores Cookies Ingredients Below->
Before you get started, make sure you have the following ingredients ready to use to make the Chocolate S’mores Cookies:
-
Unsalted Butter – Leave your butter out and let it get soft before you use it in your cookie dough.
-
Granulated White Sugar – Use white sugar to give your cookies a sweeter taste.
-
Unsweetened Baking Cocoa – Add a chocolate touch to your cookie dough using the baking cocoa.
-
Chocolate Chunks – The chocolate chunks add even more flavor to your cookies, making them taste more like s’mores.
-
Mini Marshmallows – You can’t have s’mores cookies without the marshmallows that will melt perfectly into the chocolate and other ingredients.
-
Graham Cracker Crumbs – Use your graham cracker crumbs to garnish your cookies, adding a finishing touch to them.
Besides these ingredients, be sure to have packed brown sugar, an egg, a teaspoon of pure vanilla extract, unbleached flour, baking soda, salt, and Hershey bars!
What should I do if I can’t find mini marshmallows?
If you have a difficult time finding mini marshmallows, you can buy large marshmallows and chop them into pieces before using them to make these Chocolate S’mores Cookies.
How long will it take to make the cookies?
You can make these delicious cookies in 45 minutes or less. It takes about 15 minutes to prepare the cookie dough. Once you’ve made the cookie dough, you need to let your cookies bake in the oven for 10 minutes before removing them from the oven, letting them cool, and garnishing them.
Do I have to use Hershey bars?
While Hershey bars are a classic chocolate bar commonly used to make traditional s’mores, you don’t necessarily have to use them. For example, you can use any other brand of chocolate bar that you prefer. In addition, if you like nuts, you can use Hershey’s with almond as a replacement for a traditional Hershey bar.
How to Store the Chocolate S’mores Cookies
After you have baked your cookies and have allowed them to cool down for several minutes, you can place them in a container with an airtight lid. Be sure to keep them on a countertop away from heat to keep them from melting and getting stuck to one another. And, if your cookies start to get a bit hard, the best thing to do is place a sugar keeper or sliced piece of bread into the container to add moisture, keeping the cookies soft and delicious.
Recipe Notes and Tips
-
You can freeze the cookie dough if you’d like to prepare it in advance and bake it later. However, if you do plan to freeze the dough, leave the marshmallows out. You can add them in later when you’re ready to bake the cookies.
-
If you add the marshmallows to your cookie dough, the cookies won’t bake right, so leave them out until the end.
-
Be sure to keep a close eye on your cookies because they don’t take long to bake in the oven. Since they bake rather quickly, be sure to set a timer to avoid burning them.
