Ingredients Used
Brie – You will use three brie cheese wheels to create the face bases for the Sanderson sisters.
Popcorn – Reach for classic popcorn, kettle corn, etc. This is going to be the hair of one of the sisters.
Fruit – Green grapes, small oranges, raspberries, and blackberries are what you will use for the fruit for garnishing the board.
Pepperoni – For the red firey hair I opted for pepperoni slices that are rolled up. It worked perfectly to offer that curly hair look.
Black Olives – For the eyes I took olives and sliced to mimic eyes. They turned out really cute.
Twizzlers – Pull and peel licorice is what I recommend. Now you can get your hands on shoe string licorice at times but just a thin string is what you would be looking for.
Toothpicks – You will use toothpicks to create the swirled pepperoni for the hair. This keeps them in place.
Cookie Cutter – I used cheese and then cut broomsticks and bats for added fun touches to the board.
What Is The Best Board For A Charcuterie Board?
When you go to create a charcuterie board you have many options in terms of the type of platter or board you serve it up on. Here are a few ideas you might consider for your Hocus Pocus charcuterie board.
Wood
Wood is the most popular, and is a great choice. You can pick round, square, etc. Feel free to pick any size you want as well. I like to pick a platter that will seem to hold enough to feed the number of people I plan to serve.
Slate or Marble
Consider for a modern look slate or even marble. Both are going to give you that rich and vibrant look with an elegant touch. The marble is going to also help keep the ingredients chilled a bit better on the tray.
Glass or Acrylic
Did you know you can also use glass or acrylic to create a really simple but classy look? It is going to give you that transparent look so you truly focus just on the food and decorative items on the charcuterie board.
Cheese Boards
You can also buy all types of cheese boards that will work. Some even have built-in knife slots or dips in the wood to hold a dip or other condiment. Feel free to use one of those if you own one.
Variations And Tips for Success
Cheese
If you do not like brie cheese you can always change it out. Reach for any type of cheese you want. I do find that lighter-colored cheese works best since it is the base of the faces of the witches.
Witchy Elements
I loved the idea of using cookie cutters to create broomsticks and such to place around. Consider a witch hat, bat, pumpkins, etc. Feel free to use any type of cookie cutter or even treats you can find at your local stores.
Cauldron for Dip
If you wanted to do a dip or something fun you could buy a plastic cauldron and add in some spicy jelly or a dip of choice. This could add some bold elements to the charcuterie.
Meat
Prosciutto or even salami are both other choice options that you might consider swapping in. Or create a different look and use a mix of meats to create more dimension.
Fruits
You can use any type of fruit or veggies to place around the board. Feel free to get creative and design it any way you would like.
Assembly
Make sure that you place your Brie cheese wedges down on the tray first, that way you start with a base. Then you will begin to add the hair to each of the sisters. After you get the hair assembled you will begin to fill in the board.
Small Piles of Snacks All Over The Board
You will want to make sure there are no empty spots on the board. The thing is you are going to find that if you leave spaces open it can make it look a bit off. So take smaller snack items and place them in those smaller spots. This is going to give it that full space.
Storing
If you want to assemble your board ahead of time or have leftovers, simply store them in a covered container in the fridge. Keep the board and items covered tightly so they stay fresh. The charcuterie items will last around 3-4 days in the fridge, if not slightly longer.
Eat or nibble on as you would like. You can keep it on the tray or you can transfer it to a container that is sealed.

Can I customize the board to fit dietary restrictions or preferences?
The beauty of a charcuterie board is creating a snack board that you will be able to eat. Swap in dairy-free alternatives, gluten-free, etc. There are so many foods you can use to swap in replace something to create an approved option for you.
How far in advance can I prepare my Hocus Pocus charcuterie board?
I recommend only assembling 24 hours or less in advance. The reason is the fruit and such can begin to break down and you don’t want that. So assemble and then serve within 1 day of making.
