Hot Mulled Cider is a cool weather staple! Nothing beats a mug of hot cider on a cool day! I highly recommend this delicious recipe, especially if you want to impress your loved ones this season!
Ultra easy to make using simple ingredients make one delicious hot cider that is perfect for any occasion or just to have some on your front porch in the crisp fall mornings!
This recipe is one you are going to be coming back to time and time again.. i promise!
Adding brown sugar to the mulled cider helps balance out the spice and acidity from the
added fruit. You can either strain out or remove the spices and fruit before serving, or use them as
garnish.
To keep warm for a long period of time, you can transfer this to your crockpot on warm, I do it every Thanksgiving, and have a ladle laying next to the crock pot, so everyone can keep refilling their glasses!
You can double this recipe if you’re making it for a larger number of people, just add an extra 1⁄2 gallon of cider, one extra cinnamon stick and a few extra cloves. A little goes a long way!
This recipe was a huge hit at all of our holiday parties! Definitely let it simmer on low heat for a few hours in the slow cooker to really let the flavors blend. Use fresh farmers market cider if possible. Makes a big difference!
Star of anise is a bit pricey, but don’t let it stop you from making this recipe! It will taste just
fine without it, but makes a beautiful presentation, especially for the Holidays or serving it to guests!
You can add some alcohol if you would like, a half cup of brandy or rum are my favorites when I want an alcohol version 🙂
