Ingredients Needed
Pineapple Juice – Reach for a can of pineapple juice to flavor your punch. It is going to be the big stand-out flavor next to the coconut.
Cream of Coconut – This should not be confused with coconut water or coconut milk. The cream of coconut is ultra thick and creamy which makes this punch recipe a game-changer in flavor.
Sparkling Water – Reach for your favorite sparkling water to add a nice bubble texture to the punch.
Garnishes – Pineapple rings and maraschino cherries are optional. It adds a gorgeous presentation value.
Ice – I love serving this party punch with ice. It helps keep the punch chilled but also allows you to have the pineapple and cherries on top of the container for a gorgeous presentation value.
Variations To Recipe
- Lemon lime soda or ginger ale can be used instead of sparkling water.
- Blend with ice to make a slushy texture of punch.
- Add in some rum or vodka for a boozy pina colada punch.
- For a lighter version use coconut water instead of cream of coconut.
- Add in some pineapple or coconut sorbet for a sweet frozen twist.
- Add a sliced banana to a blender, for a banana flavor.
- Add in some blue curacao for a sweet orange flavor with the pina colada flavor.
- Garnish with different fruits, or even rim the glass in coconut flakes.
- Add in some mango puree for even more of a tropical flavor. Or you can use diced mango when you add to the blender.
Storing
You will find this punch is best served fresh, as the flavors will alter the longer it sits. The sparkling water will go flat pretty quickly as well. So drink right away. But if you have some leftovers just strain off the ice. Then refrigerate for 1-2 days. Then before serving add fresh sparkling water for that bubbly texture.
Now you can also freeze the punch if you want. It will alter just a bit, but still tastes great. You can freeze the punch for 2-3 months. Then thaw in the fridge overnight for a slow thaw. Also, make sure you allow room for the punch to expand when it freezes. I aim to leave 1-2 inches at the top of the container.
Tips For Success
Blender
You do need a blender for this punch recipe. Otherwise, you will find the ingredients don’t blend together as well. I recommend using a high speed blender like a Ninja or something along that lines.
Serve With Ice
Serving your punch with a full glass of ice is going to allow the fruit to sit on top of the glass the way you see it in my pictures. Without the ice the pineapple and maraschino cherry would fall straight to the bottom of the glass.
Chill Ingredients
Starting with chilled ingredients is going to help keep your pina colada punch nice and cold. Then you add in the ice and it elevates the cold temperature which will help the ice melt a lot slower.
Adding Bubbly Water
Don’t add the bubbly water till right before you serve, as the carbonation will fizzle out pretty quickly. If you don’t drink it all then after stored in the fridge add more of the sparkling water to get it fizzy again before drinking.
