Pepper Steak Crock Pot Recipe Ingredients

Make sure to get the ingredients needed to prepare this tasty dish in no time. You’ll need the following ingredients to get started:

  • Beef – Cube your beef into pieces with a sharp knife that cuts through it easily.

  • Peppers – The peppers add an excellent taste to this beef and pair well with the onions.

  • Onions – Add more flavor to the dish with the addition of onions!

  • Minced Garlic – Use two cloves of minced garlic for the incredible flavor it adds to this dish.

  • Soy Sauce – Add a salty, slightly zesty taste to your slow cooker with some soy sauce.

  • Cooked White Rice – Who doesn’t love pepper steak with a bit of white rice to eat with it?

Along with these ingredients, you’ll need sugar, black pepper, broth, Worcestershire sauce, cornstarch, and cold water. You can also garnish this dish with sesame seeds. However, the sesame seeds are optional!

What type of beef do I need?

Cubed stew beef will work best when you prepare this Slow Cooker Pepper Steak. If you don’t want to cut the beef in cubes, you can cut it into strips and combine it with the peppers and onions.

Can I use riced cauliflower instead of white rice?

Yes, you can use riced cauliflower as a low-carb alternative to cooked white rice. You can cook the cauliflower rice as directed on the package before mixing it with your steak, peppers, and onions.

What is a good alternative for soy sauce?

If you don’t have soy sauce or don’t like to use it, you can replace it with liquid aminos, which have a similar taste to soy sauce.

Do I use fresh or frozen peppers?

You can use frozen peppers and onions! In fact, simply buy a bag of pre-cut frozen onions with peppers to save yourself some time. However, if you prefer using fresh vegetables, feel free to cut the peppers and onions into pieces and add them to the slow cooker with your steak.

Recipe Notes

  1. Add your beef to the slow cooker first and then put the peppers on top, spreading them evenly over your beef.

  2. If you feel like the sauce is a bit too thin, you can add a bit more cornstarch to the mix to thicken it up to your liking.

  3. Make sure to mix your sauce ingredients together before you pour them into the slow cooker and on top of your steak, peppers, and onions.

Can I add broccoli to this recipe?

While this recipe calls for peppers and onions with the steak, you can add some chopped broccoli into the slow cooker with the rest of the ingredients if you’d like to add more veggies into the mix. You can even add some baby corn into the slow cooker with all your other ingredients to add an extra twist to this dish.

What can I do if the sauce is too thick?

If you feel like the sauce is too thick, don’t stress it. You can add a bit of water little by little to the slow cooker to make the sauce thinner until it has the desired consistency.

What to Serve with Slow Cooker Pepper Steak

Serve your pepper steak with a side of white rice, fried rice, or even riced cauliflower. It also tastes great when served with a side of fresh broccoli and a baked or fried spring roll or egg roll. If you serve your food with these sides, it’s like having Chinese takeout without the extra calories and excess oil added to the ingredients to make them taste good!
