Which type of chicken will I need?
If you’re planning to make the Copycat Willow Tree Chicken Salad with Bacon, you’ll need a pound of chicken breast or a handy cooked rotisserie chicken from the supermarket. Be sure to cook the chicken breast if going that route and shred it into pieces. If you don’t want to go through the process of cooking the chicken, then just buy the rotisserie chicken and shred that into pieces for this recipe.
Do I need to use a certain type of mayo?
You don’t need to use a certain brand or type of mayo. Use what you have available in your fridge and enjoy eating. If you’re not sure which brand to choose, Hellmann’s and Duke’s are two great options. If you prefer Miracle Whip, you can use it in this recipe, but it won’t taste the same as the original recipe because of the sweetness that Miracle Whip has to it.
Why do I need to have brown sugar for this recipe?
The brown sugar adds a slight touch of sweetness to a savory dish. It may sound strange to combine brown sugar with chicken, mayo, celery, and other ingredients, but it works well and will leave you with chicken salad that tastes like the kind you can get from the Willow Tree Farms company.
Which bacon should I use?
Use your favorite brand and type of bacon. It’s fine to use turkey bacon if you don’t like pork bacon. Once you’ve selected the brand and type of bacon, cook it, drain it, and then crumble into pieces or chop it into small pieces that you can add into the mixing bowl with the shredded chicken, mayo, celery, and more. You dont have to add it but I love it!
Can I eat it right away?
You can eat the Copycat Willow Tree Chicken Salad with Bacon immediately after preparing it or store it in the fridge and let it chill for an hour before spreading it out on a croissant. It all depends on how you like your chicken salad. Some people like to eat it at room temperature, while others prefer biting into it when it’s cold.
How do I store the chicken salad?
Put your chicken salad in a food storage container and seal it with a lid. Place the chicken salad in the fridge to keep it fresh. It should stay good when sealed and left in the fridge for up to five days. However, it probably won’t last that long in your fridge because it tastes so good that you can expect your loved ones to devour it in no time.
