How to Make the Prime Rib Roast

Get ready to make your roast by preheating the oven to 420 degrees F. While waiting for the oven to get hot, rinse your rib and dry it with paper towels. Set the roast into a baking dish and begin seasoning it with your salt and pepper. Grab your butter and rub it on all sides of the roast. Once you add the salt, pepper, and butter, begin rubbing the garlic, olive oil, and thyme on it. Be sure to place some thyme underneath the roast.

Put your baking dish in the oven and allow your roast to cook for 35 minutes before taking it out of the oven. After pulling it out of the oven, add your mushrooms, olive oil, and Worcestershire sauce to the meat juice.ย

Stir the ingredients and push them around on the edges of your roast. Place the meat back into the baking dish and put it back in your oven to cook for an additional 35 minutes. You can serve it right away with mashed potatoes or other tasty side dishes.

What to Serve With a Prime Rib Roast

You can serve your Prime Rib Roast with just about any of your favorite sides. However, if you are looking for new and exciting sides to eat with this meat, consider preparing roasted broccolini, garlic butter mushrooms, baked asparagus, or scalloped potatoes. The roast tastes great with a starch and a vegetable on the side. If you want to keep it simple, stick with a baked potato or mashed potatoes and some roasted broccoli or carrots.

How to Store Prime Rib

If you are unable to finish your Prime Rib Roast, save your leftovers and reheat them when you get hungry. You should wrap the roast in plastic wrap, seal it shut, and put it in the refrigerator. It is better to keep it intact instead of slicing it before you store it. The roast tastes great the next day, but you can save the roast for up to seven days in your refrigerator. Of course, you may end up eating it before that because it tastes that good!

Helpful Tips You Should Know When Preparing the Roast

When you have leftover juice from preparing the roast, consider drizzling it over any of your leftovers. It will keep the roast moist and fresh when you wrap it with the juices on top of it. Be sure to leave the fat on your roast. It is important to have fat attached to it because of the natural flavor it brings to the meat. When shopping for the perfect roast to cook, choose one with bits of fat on it for flavor purposes.

Can You Cook the Roast in the Slow Cooker?

If you would prefer to avoid using the oven, you may wonder if you can prepare the roast in the slow cooker. While this recipe shows you how to bake your roast to perfection, it is possible to use the slow cooker. You will need to let the meat cook for at least four hours on the low setting of your slow cooker.ย

The length of time you choose to leave it in there will depend on how you like your meat. For example, you can cook it for less time when you want a medium-rare roast. If you would like it less rare, cook it a bit longer. You can still use the same ingredients listed in this recipe when you make it.
