Bacon Wrapped Meatloaf Variations

  • If you don’t like ground beef or don’t have it available, you can make a turkey version of this dish using ground turkey. You can even use a blend of ground turkey and ground pork for added flavor.
  • Use different types of bacon each time you make this meatloaf to try out different flavors. There are plenty of great options, from applewood smoked bacon to black pepper bacon.
  • If you’re not a big fan of ketchup, you don’t need to use it in this recipe. In addition, you can add a bit of mustard to the meat mixture for a slightly tangy taste that goes great with the other ingredients you’ll use to make this entree.

Wrapped Bacon Meatloaf Notes

  • Make sure to drape the bacon over the meatloaf in a shingle-style pattern until you’ve covered it all.
  • Use the non-cooking spray on your loaf pan before you add your meat mixture to the pan. It’s an important step because you don’t want the meatloaf to get stuck to the pan, making it harder for you to remove and serve.
  • Prepare some caramelized onions in a skillet on the stove while your meatloaf is baking so you can pair the meatloaf slices with the onion for an added touch! If you don’t like onions, you can skip this step, but it’s SO good.

Bacon is the magical culinary ingredient that seems to make everything better. Its salty, smoky flavor combined with the rich taste of ground meat creates a mouthwatering experience that will have everyone coming back for seconds. Adding a bacon layer also helps to keep the meatloaf moist, preventing it from drying out during cooking. Plus, who can resist the sizzle and aroma of bacon wafting through the kitchen?
