If you love Big Macs but try to avoid going to McDonald’s too often because you know it’s unhealthy and you don’t want to waste money, you’re in luck with this recipe for Cheeseburger Cups. They’re easy and fun to make with fresh and tasty ingredients. You’ll be surprised at how much they taste like something you’d buy at the popular fast-food restaurant!

Homemade Burger Cups

Make these homemade burger cups for yourself and loved ones for lunch or dinner. They’re tasty and even better for you because you’re making them with fresh ingredients, including ground beef, cheese, and pickles! Once you prepare them at home, you won’t feel the need to go to your local McDonald’s nearly as often as you used to when craving a Big Mac.

Why You Should Make the Copycat McDonald’s Big Mac Cup

  • These Big Mac Cups are easy enough to make in minutes.

  • They taste amazing. If you love Big Macs, you’re going to love this recipe even more.

  • You can add what you like. For example, if you don’t like pickles, you can remove them and add something else, such as tomatoes.

Ingredients Needed

Be sure to gather all the essential ingredients needed to make these tasty Cheeseburger Cups at home, including:

  • Hamburger Buns – Be sure to split your hamburger buns before you get started.

  • Ground Beef – Use one pound of ground beef for this recipe.

  • Onion – Finely chop your onion into small pieces

  • Worcestershire Sauce – Add flavor to your burger cups with this incredibly zesty sauce.

  • American Cheese – You’ll need at least six slices of American cheese for this recipe.

  • Dill Pickle Chips – You can’t go wrong with the crunchy, bold flavor of these pickles!

You’ll also need some thousand island dressing and sesame seeds to complete this meal.

Do I have to use ground beef?

If you want this meal to taste exactly like Big Macs from McDonald’s, it’s important to use ground beef. However, if you’re trying to make a healthier version and don’t care about a slight adjustment, you can use ground turkey for this recipe.

Why do I need to use the thousand island dressing?

The thousand island dressing closely replicates the special Big Mac sauce offered at McDonald’s. It has a similar bold and zesty flavor that makes it more enjoyable.

Which brand of dressing should I use?

You can use any brand of thousand island dressing, such as Wishbone, Kraft, or even a generic brand. If you have a specific brand that you like best, you can use that.

What type of onion do I need for this recipe?

It’s a good idea to use a white onion for this recipe, chopping it into the smallest pieces possible to make it similar to the onions that you’d get on a Big Mac.

Recipe Notes & Suggestions

  1. If you can find hamburger buns with sesame seeds already attached to them, they’re good to use when preparing this recipe.

  1. Make sure to bake your buns for at least 10 minutes to get them lightly toasted. Don’t let them bake for more than 12 minutes because you don’t want to burn them.

  1. Be sure to break your beef into small pieces. You want to have crumbles to add to your hamburger buns.

Can I make these in advance?

It’s best to prepare and enjoy these fresh instead of making them in advance. The reason why it’s better not to make them in advance is that the buns can become soggy from the ground beef, dressing, and pickles, and you don’t want that to happen.

How many Big Mac Cups does this recipe make?

If you follow this recipe step-by-step, you’ll have 12 of these hamburger cups to enjoy and serve to loved ones. If you’d like to make them for parties or special events with family and friends, be sure to double or triple the recipe to have enough for everyone.

Do I have to use American cheese?

It’s best to use American cheese because that is what they use on the Big Mac at McDonald’s. However, if you don’t like cheese, you don’t have to use it at all.
