It’s full of flavor, making it the perfect meal to prepare with ease in the slow cooker and then serve with some of your favorite side dishes. When you want to make a meal that will impress your family without requiring too much work or effort, give this recipe a try.

What Is Mississippi Pot Roast in Crock Pot?

The Mississippi Pot Roast is an incredible meal consisting of a chuck roast with brown gravy, dry ranch dressing mix, pepperoncini, and several other ingredients that pair amazingly with one another to create an incredibly unique and delicious flavor.

If you’re tired of preparing your chuck roast the same way and are looking for a new recipe to make, this is the one that will quickly become a household favorite.

Why Make This Slow Cooker Mississippi Pot Roast?

  1. It’s delicious! Who doesn’t love the taste of warm, seasoned roast that falls apart when removed from the slow cooker?

  2. You won’t need much to make it. You’re only going to use a handful of ingredients to give this pot roast its flavor.

  3. The leftovers are as good as a fresh serving of this incredible roast. So, if you have leftovers, be prepared to enjoy them just as much.

Ingredients to Make the Recipe for Mississippi Pot Roast

  • Chuck Roast – Grab a chuck roast that is at least three pounds.

  • Whole Pepperoncinis – You’ll need a whole jar of these pepperoncinis and the juice from the jar.

  • Brown Gravy Mix – Use a packet of the brown gravy mix for added flavor.

  • Dry Ranch Dressing Mix – The dry ranch dressing brings a zesty taste to this delicious roast.

  • Butter – Use a full stick of butter in your slow cooker!

In addition to these ingredients, you’ll need a bit of water & broth to add to the slow cooker to complete this recipe. It’s truly that simple. It is also low carb if you eat it on its own with a salad on the side!

Can I use margarine instead of butter?

The flavorful roast tastes best when using a full stick of butter in your slow cooker. However, if you absolutely don’t want to use butter or you don’t have it and you want to make this meal for the family, you can always use margarine as an alternative. It may alter the overall flavor of this dish a bit.

Where can I find the pepperoncinis?

You should be able to find the peppencinis at your local grocery store. It’s not uncommon to find these peppers in the aisle with other jarred peppers, including sweet peppers, banana peppers, and sandwich peppers.

What type of dry ranch mix should I use?

You can use any brand of dry ranch mix seasoning that you prefer. If you’re not sure which one to choose, Hidden Valley Ranch makes an excellent one full of flavor. Of course, you can use a generic version or any other brand that you can find.

Can I make this with a pork roast?

Yes. If you’re a fan of pork, you can follow this recipe while using a pork roast instead of a chuck roast. The flavor may be slightly different, but you can expect the meal to taste as good as the original recipe.

Recipe Notes

  1. Combine your brown gravy and water in a bowl, mixing well before pouring it over the chuck roast in the slow cooker.

  1. When your chuck roast is cooked, be sure to remove it and use two forks to shred it. It should fall apart for you within seconds without giving you much trouble or causing you a lot of work.

  1. Be sure to serve with your favorite sides, including a starch and some vegetables that will taste great with this meat.

What to Serve with the Mississippi Roast

You can serve lots of fantastic sides with this roast. Some people like to serve it on top of white rice or buttered noodles. However, you can also serve it as an entrée with mashed potatoes and corn or carrots on the side. It would also pair well with a baked potato and homemade baked macaroni and cheese.
