Ingredients Needed

Check out the recipe card for a full list of ingredients.

  • French or Italian bread – The main ingredient in the dish is french bread, so make sure you use a good quality and fresh bread. French or Italian bread is perfect for this recipe since they are denser and don’t get soggy quickly.
  • Eggs –  The eggs will help bind the dish together.
  • Milk – You can use cow’s milk or almond/soy milk if you prefer. The protein in the milk helps give the bread a nice texture.
  • Heavy cream –  The cream helps make the bread extra rich and creamy.
  • Brown sugar – The brown sugar gives the dish a hint of sweetness.
  • Vanilla extract – This provides more flavor to the dish.
  • Blueberries – The recipe calls for fresh blueberries, but you can also use frozen ones if that’s what you have on hand.
  • Butter – You will need a little bit of butter for greasing the casserole dish and then to drizzle over the top. It adds more flavor to the bread.
