What makes this Cannoli Dip so amazing is the combination of rich, creamy ingredients. The cream cheese adds a tangy base, while the whole milk ricotta cheese gives it that classic, smooth, and slightly grainy texture we all love in cannolis. Together, they create a creamy filling that’s decadent without being overly heavy. The confectioner’s sugar sweetens it just the right amount, while the orange extract and lemon zest bring a refreshing citrusy note that perfectly balances the richness of the cheese. The mini chocolate chips add just the right amount of sweetness and crunch to make every bite even more irresistible.

Want to have a sweet and tasty dip to serve with cookies, cannoli chips, and tons of other treats? If so, give this Cannoli Dip a try because it won’t disappoint and will quickly become a favorite when hosting guests for gatherings.

What I love about this Cannoli Dip is how customizable it is. You can serve it with waffle cones broken into pieces, adding a crunchy element that mimics the classic cannoli shell. For an extra touch, you can also garnish with chopped pistachios or chocolate shavings for an added pop of flavor and texture. Whether you’re serving it with something crunchy like graham crackers or fresh fruit, or just dipping into it with a spoon (no judgment here!), this dip is a crowd-pleaser every time.

Cannoli Filling with Cream Cheese Dip Ingredients

Before you get started, you’re going to need some important ingredients to make this dip, including:

  • Cream Cheese – Leave your cream cheese out and let it soften before you begin to prepare the dip.
  • Ricotta Cheese – Be sure to grab whole-milk ricotta cheese for this specific recipe. It works best and leaves the dip with an incredible taste and texture.
  • Orange Extract – A slight touch of orange extract makes this dip a bit zestier.
  • Lemon Zest – Zest a single lemon and add it to your mixture with the cheese and sugar.
  • Mini Chocolate Chips – You can’t go wrong with adding some mini chocolate chip morsels into the mixture. Not only do they add flavor, but they also contribute to the incredible texture of this sweet, decadent dip.

You also have the option of adding additional garnishes, such as chopped pistachios or even chocolate shavings to this recipe.

This dip is incredibly easy to put together. Simply beat together the softened cream cheese and ricotta cheese until smooth, then mix in the confectioner’s sugar, orange extract, and lemon zest. After that, fold in the chocolate chips, and voilà—you’ve got a creamy, dreamy dip that’s ready to be enjoyed! It’s a quick, no-fuss dessert that will impress your guests or just satisfy your sweet tooth at home.

Common Questions

What type of cream cheese should I use?

It’s a good idea to use full-fat cream cheese. You can select any brand that you prefer, such as Kraft. I enjoy the flavor of Kraft’s Philadelphia Cream Cheese and feel like it’s easy to work with, so it’s a great option.

What brand of ricotta cheese will I need?

The brand of ricotta cheese isn’t important. You can use a brand name or a generic version of ricotta cheese. As long as it’s whole milk, it’s good to use.

What type of chocolate chips should I use?

Feel free to use any chocolate chips that you like, such as milk chocolate, semi-sweet chocolate, or even dark chocolate. Some people like the more distinct, bold chocolatey taste that comes from the dark chocolate morsels, but it’s entirely up to you.

Can I use something other than chocolate chips in this dip?

Yes. You can omit the chocolate chips or add something different to the dip, such as rainbow-colored sprinkles, chocolate shavings, or anything else that you feel will taste good!

Recipe Notes & Tips

  • If you would like to make a version of this dip that doesn’t have such a tart-like flavor, you can use vanilla extract as a replacement for the orange extract.
  • Be sure to let your mixture sit in the fridge for a minimum of 30 minutes to chill before serving. It’s going to taste best when it’s cold.
  • You’ll need to drain the ricotta cheese. If you don’t take this important step, your dip may have a bit of a runny consistency, which you don’t want. So, quickly drain it before you mix the ricotta with the rest of the ingredients.

What to Serve with the Dip

After you’ve prepared your dip, you can serve it with so many tasty foods. Not only does it taste great with cannoli chips, but it’s also something you can eat with graham crackers, strawberries, mini brownies, blueberries, apples, and so much more.

And the best part? You can make it ahead of time! Just prepare the dip and store it in the fridge for a few hours before serving. This gives the flavors time to meld together, making it even more delicious. Plus, it keeps well, so you can enjoy it for days after making it—if there’s any left!

So, if you’re looking for a quick and impressive dessert that’s creamy, flavorful, and downright addictive, this Cannoli Dip is your new best friend. With the combination of cream cheese, ricotta cheese, chocolate chips, and the perfect blend of citrus, it’s a dessert that will have everyone asking for the recipe. Serve it at your next party, family dinner, or just because you deserve something sweet. Trust me, you’ll be hooked after the first bite!
