Cherry and Cola Cheesecake Ingredients
If you want to know how to make cheesecake, this is the perfect recipe to follow. Before you begin, make sure you have the right ingredients, which would include:
- Cream Cheese – Grab four packages of cream cheese for your filling and leave them out to soften. Softening the cream cheese makes it easier to work with when preparing your homemade filling.
- Granulated Sugar – Add sugar to your cream cheese to make it sweeter for the filling.
- Unsweetened Cocoa Powder – This version of cheesecake has a chocolate touch, so youโll need some unsweetened cocoa powder.
- Coca-Cola – Youโll add a bit of Coca-Cola for that added flavor.
- Vanilla Extract – Add hints of vanilla to your mixture to make it taste even better.
The other ingredients youโll need for the filling include melted and slightly cooled semi-sweet chocolate, heavy whipping cream, maraschino cherry juice, three eggs, and some whipped cream to add on top. Youโre also going to need Oreo crumbs and butter to prepare the homemade crust for this dessert.
Common Questions
Do I have to prepare my own crust?
While you donโt have to prepare your own crust, itโs super simple and will taste even better than the pre-made options available in the store.
Can I use any type of chocolate cookie for the crust?
Absolutely. You can use different variations of Oreo cookies or any other chocolate cookies you prefer to make a homemade crust. Use what you like or already have at home to make it even more convenient!
What type of cream cheese should I use?
Any cream cheese would suffice, but itโs best to use full-fat cream cheese. If youโre looking for recommendations on a good brand to use, Kraftโs Philadelphia Cream Cheese is such a great choice because it has the perfect flavor and consistency. Of course, you can use a generic brand, too!
Does it matter what type of cocoa powder is used?
Not at all. You can use any brand, such as Hersheyโs Unsweetened Cocoa Powder. As long as itโs unsweetened, you can use it. You donโt want to use sweetened cocoa powder because then the cheesecake will come out too sweet.
Recipe Notes & Tips
- Keep your cheesecake from splitting by turning off the oven when itโs done cooking, cracking the door, and letting it sit in the oven for about 15 minutes. It works like a charm to keep the cheesecake looking its absolute best.
- Youโll need to let your cheesecake sit in the fridge for a minimum of six hours. However, itโs best to let it sit in the fridge overnight so that you can make sure it has plenty of time to sit and get that consistency that makes it perfect for slicing and serving.
- You can add different toppings to this dessert, such as whipped cream, chocolate drizzle, caramel drizzle, crushed Oreo cookie pieces, or even more cherries. Customize the cheesecake to your liking with some of your favorite toppings.
