These cookies taste amazing on their own, but they’re even better when dipped in a cold glass of milk or a hot cup of your favorite coffee.
What You’ll Need to Make the Cowboy Cookies
If you want to make the Cowboy Cookies Recipe, be sure to get these ingredients before you get started:
-
Unsalted Butter. Let your butter sit out and soften before you use it to prepare the cookie dough.
-
Brown Sugar. The brown sugar contributes to the flavor and leaves these cookies with the ideal texture.
-
White Sugar. Keep these cookies sweet with the addition of white sugar.
-
Vanilla Extract. Add vanilla extract to your mixture to give your cookies a slight hint of vanilla taste.
-
All-Purpose Flour. Work on preparing your cookie dough by combining the flour with other dry ingredients.
-
Chocolate Chips. Use just enough chocolate chips to give these cookies that chocolatey taste with each bite.
You’ll also need an egg, kosher salt, rolled oats, baking soda, corn flakes, coconut flakes, and chopped pecans for this recipe. It might sound like a lot of random ingredients, but these baking ingredients will help you prepare cookies with the perfect taste and texture.
Do I have to use pecans?
The pecans add the perfect crunch to these cookies. They pair well with the sweetness of the sugar, too, making them such a great addition to add to the cookie dough. However, if you don’t like pecans, it’s fine to leave them out or replace them with something else, such as peanuts, almonds or walnuts.
Can I use chocolate chunks instead of chocolate chips?
If you only have chocolate chunks, it’s fine to use those chocolate chunks as a replacement for chocolate chips. You may not need as many chocolate chunks as you do chocolate chips because they’re large and leave the cookies with even more of a chocolatey center.
Why do I need to use brown sugar to make these cookies?
-
The brown sugar contributes to the flavor of these cookies, but there’s a bit more to it than that. Because this sugar contains molasses, it’s normal for cookies containing it to have a soft and dense texture. If you want to prepare soft cookies with the ideal texture that makes them irresistible, this recipe is perfect for you.
Do I need to let the cookie dough chill before I bake it?
Yes, be sure to chill the dough in the fridge for a minimum of two hours before you add it to the baking sheet and place it in the oven. These recipes for Cowboy Cookies are something your whole family will love!
How long do the cookies need to bake?
Once you’ve placed the cookie dough on the baking sheet and the oven reaches 350 degrees, place them in the oven and allow them to bake for a minimum of 10 minutes and a maximum of 12 minutes. Remove the Texas Cowboy Cookies from the oven and set them off to the side, allowing them to cool on the baking sheet for several minutes before you serve these delicious cookies.
How can I store the cookies to keep them fresh?
-
Put your completed Cowboy Cookie recipe in a plastic or glass food storage container with an airtight lid. If you have a cookie jar, it’s fine to use that for storage. If you don’t have a container with an airtight lid, place the cookies in a plastic resealable food storage bag and keep them in a cool, dry place, such as a bread box.
Can I use frosted corn flakes?
-
While you can use frosted corn flakes, it could make the cookies a bit sweeter. If you don’t want the cookies to taste too sweet, stick with traditional unsweetened corn flakes in the white box!
