What Are Bread and Butter Pickles?

Bread and Butter Pickles are sliced cucumbers placed in vinegar and other ingredients for a while to transform them into the pickles that they will become. They first got their name because it is believed that in the past, people would prepare these pickles and then sell them in exchange for essentials, such as butter and bread. Another reason they may have received such a name is that they taste great with bread and butter, along with all kinds of sandwiches.

  • Pickling Cucumbers. You will need at least seven cucumbers to get started.

What to Do With Your Pickles

Pickles are versatile. You can do a lot with them, including some of the following things:

  1. Add them to hamburgers and cheeseburgers for an added crunch and more flavor.

  2. Slice them up and add them to some of your favorite salads, such as chicken salad, macaroni salad, and pasta salad.

  3. Dip them in egg wash, bread them, and fry them! You can fry them in oil or the air fryer. Many people enjoy the taste of fried pickles as a crispy appetizer. You can even dip them in your favorite dipping sauce.

  4. Eat them on sandwiches with cheese, ham, bologna, turkey breast, and other tasty options. They will add more flavor to traditional sandwiches.

  5. Eat them straight out of the jar. Some people LOVE pickles. If you are one of those people, you might want to take a few of them from the jar and eat them as a snack, which is perfectly fine to do!
