Reasons You Will Love This Turkey Crescent Roll Ring
- This is a great appetizer or main dish to whip up and serve your family or a crowd.
- Loaded with all the flavors of a Thanksgiving dinner! Turkey, cheese, cranberry, etc.
- Easy to assemble and offers a gorgeous presentation value.
- You can use leftover holiday turkey or opt to use deli turkey meat. This recipe is versatile.
Ingredients Needed
Crescent Rolls – Reach for canned crescent rolls that you will roll out and shape like a wreath. This is going to be the base of the wreath and fill it with meat, cheese, etc.
Turkey – For this, I used turkey deli meat but you are more than welcome to reach for leftover holiday turkey if you have it on hand.
Cranberry – Whole berry cranberry sauce is what I recommend. It helps add texture but also a lot of flavor to the wreath. You can use canned or homemade cranberry.
Cream Cheese – The cream cheese is going to add a nice creamy texture but also flavor. I reached for the chives and onion for more flavor.
Mustard – Dijon mustard is what I used for adding a nice kick to the crescent ring.
Cheese – Monterey Jack that is shredded adds the perfect cheesy pairing to the meat and other ingredients.
Butter – Reach for real butter, not margarine for this recipe.
Spices – Thyme, poppy seeds, garlic, and salt are what I used for adding additional flavor to the turkey ring.
Variations To Recipe
- Use ham, pepperoni, or other lunch meat in addition to or in replace of the turkey.
- Add in a layer of stuffing that you have, for more of a Thanksgiving feel.
- Leave out the cheese and cream cheese if you do not care for cheese. I find it adds a ton of flavor.
- Use different herbs and spices to season the top of the crescent rolls if you would like.
- Instead of crescent rolls use refrigerated pizza dough that you cut and shape so you can still make a wreath shape.
- Add on some cooked bacon for added salty flavor.
- Use a spicy mustard in replace of Dijon mustard for more of a kick. Or even go a step further and do a creamy horseradish.
Tips for Making Crescent Roll Ring
Forming The Wreath
Use the unrolled dough to lay out on the prepared baking sheet. Shape in a circle where the ends connect to make a nice round circle. You will have a slight overlap which is going to help the wreath hold shape.
Adding Filling
Make sure to not add too much filling to the crescent rolls or it will make it hard to roll and become messy to eat. Ensure you leave the ends of the crescent clear so they are easy to wrap and tuck to seal the edges.
Preheat the Oven
Make sure you preheat the oven to ensure when you place the wreath in it that it begins to cook right away. Otherwise, it will not brown up the way you would like it.
Storing
Store any of the leftovers in the fridge in a sealed container. The turkey crescents will last for 3-4 days. Then just warm it up in the microwave or in the oven.
You can also freeze any of the turkey crescent wreath you won’t eat as well. Just place in a freezer container and freeze for 2-3 months. Then thaw in the fridge and then eat cold or warm it up.
