Ingredients You Will Need
Jello – You will use red jello and green jello for this Christmas party shooter.
Water – Reach for filtered water as it is going to help not take on more flavors to the jello shots.
Vodka – Reach for a plain chilled vodka for this recipe. You will divide the vodka between the red and green jello.
Sprinkles – Reach for Christmas sprinkles. I used the Jimmies as they are great for adding a pop of color but also are easy to eat.
Cool Whip – Top each of the jello shots with Cool Whip for an even sweeter treat. Whip these up and elevate the look with some whipped cream.
Variations to Recipe
Jello – Any flavors of jello would be used. Raspberry, cherry, strawberry, lime, apple, etc. You are more than welcome to use any color of jello and any flavor.
Vodka – Want to add a different flavor to the shots? Here you can use whipped cream vodka, vanilla, or other flavors of vodka.
Rum or Tequila – Want to change up the type of alcohol used? If so here is where you can swap the vodka with a white rum or tequila if you want.
Tips for Success
Allow the Layers to Set up
Make sure that before you add the top layer of jello you allow the bottom layer of jello to set up. If you go to pour the jello on top of the other before it sets, the flavors will blend. You won’t get that layered look.
Top with Whipped Cream Before Serving
The Cool Whip will break down a bit so it is recommended to add to the top of the shots shortly before you plan to serve it up to our crowd.
Thickness of Layers
You can experiment with the thickness of the jello layers if you want. You can make one or more of the jello layers. Feel free to play around with the shots and see what you think.
Use A Serving Tray or Pan
I use a rimmed cookie sheet for placing the jello shots on the pan. This is a great tip as it is going to allow you to move it from one area of the kitchen to another area. You can use a cookie sheet or even a 9×13 size pan.
Storing
Store any of the jello shots that have not been eaten right away in a sealed container in the fridge. These will last for up to 4-5 days. Now if you add the Cool Whip on top, it can melt down after a day or two in the fridge.

How long does it take to make jello shots?
Overall it takes around 4 hours from start to finish to make these layered jello shots. Now I always recommend making sure to allow extra time just in case it takes a bit longer to set up.
