Which oil do I need to use when baking the cake?

You can use vegetable oil or canola oil for the cake recipe, whichever type of oil you have available to use.

Do I need to buy a specific brand of cake mix?

You don’t need to buy a specific brand. You can get any brand available, such as Pillsbury, Duncan Hines, or Betty Crocker. There’s nothing wrong with buying the generic version of the white cake mix.

Does it have to be white cake mix?

It’s important to use white cake mix because you’ll add the red and blue gelatin to it, ultimately giving it that red, white, and blue color. If you use a yellow cake mix, the colors won’t look as good.

How many people will this cake serve?

The number of servings will depend on the size of each slice. It can serve as little as 12 people and as many as 15 people at a time. You can double the recipe to serve up to 30 people for family gatherings and events.

Should I use fresh or frozen fruit for this cake?

It’s a good idea to use fresh strawberries and blueberries. Be sure to rinse them before you slice the strawberries and add both berries to the whipped topping.

Which type of whipped topping do I need to use?

You can buy any whipped topping that you enjoy, such as Cool Whip or Reddi Whip. If you’d like to make the whipped topping from scratch, you can do so using a few simple ingredients, such as heavy whipping cream, sugar, and vanilla extract. It’s easy to make a homemade whipped topping that tastes great.
