Ingredients You Will Need

Ground Beef – I love leaner ground beef for this recipe since you are adding the meat to the tortilla. I used a 90/10.

Tortillas – Reach for taco-sized tortillas for this recipe. I do recommend flour tortillas over the corn.

Cheese – American sliced cheese is the classic cheese used to make a Big Mac so that is what I reached for.

Lettuce – Iceberg finely shredded lettuce is going to offer that nice crisp crunch to the taco.

Onion – A white onion that is finely chopped will be exactly what you want to add to your finished product.

Dressing – Thousand Island dressing is a sauce that offers a very similar flavor to the Big Mac sauce. It is tangy, sweet, and savory all in one.

Pickles – Hamburger dill pickles add that zesty and tangy bite to the burger!

Salt and Pepper – Season to taste the beef with salt and pepper.

Variations To Recipe

Meat – You can use ground beef, turkey, pork, or even chicken for this recipe. The idea is to spread on a thin layer of meat mixture on the tortilla.

Tortilla – Reach for corn tortillas if you prefer. I find that flour tortillas offer the best flavor, but nonetheless, you can use any type of tortilla you want. Even a low-carb tortilla works.

Bacon – Add a layer of bacon on top of the burger. Just cook bacon until crispy.

Toppings – Sliced avocado, mustard, BBQ sauce, mayonnaise, mushrooms, tomatoes, and more can be added for added flavor to the burgers.

Saute Onions – For a twist you can make caramelized onions or saute onions to soften and add them to the taco once you are ready to serve up.

Meatless – Reach for a plant-based meat replacement for a twist. You can also use vegan cheese so you have a vegan Big Mac smash taco.

Tips For Success

Quality Ingredients

Make sure to use quality ingredients and fresh lettuce. You will have the best flavor for your end result this way.

Season Beef

Make sure to season your ground beef. Even if it is salt and pepper it is important to ensure that you get some flavor. Feel free to add more spices if you want.

Preheated Skillet

Before you place your beef tacos into the pan make sure the skillet is nice and hot. That way it begins to sear the ground beef as soon as you sit it in the skillet.

Smash A Thin Layer of Beef

Don’t make your burger patties too thick on the tortilla or you will find it won’t cook up the best. A thin layer of ground beef on the flour tortilla is key.

Cookie Scoop

Use a small cookie scoop so each tortilla has the same amount of beef on each taco. I use this method for even to cook all my tacos.

Cooking Tortilla

Making sure to flip the smash taco over and get the tortilla crunchy will give it a quesadilla crunchy texture. Trust me this is a game changer in terms of flavor.

Serve Right Away

Once you whip up your smash tacos, assemble, top, and serve right away. These are going to have the best flavor and texture.

Storing Leftovers

Refrigerate in a sealed container in the fridge for 2-3 days. You are going to find these are best served warm and fresh. But the smash Big Mac tacos do store for a few days. To reheat you can warm in a skillet or in the microwave if you want.

I do recommend not adding the lettuce and such till you are going to eat it, as reheating lettuce is going to wilt it.
